Client Testimonial

"Just a quick email to say thank you to yourself and your team for the superb windows that were fitted along our KS1 side of the school, they look fantastic! Also, they have cut noise and the classrooms are much warmer than they used to be.

May I also say how professional your contractors were, very polite and hardworking and have done a beautiful job of installing the windows with minimal disruption to school.

Andy our head teacher is over the moon with how the project was run and also sends his thanks and kind regards Colin.

Again Stanville thanks you!!"

Jason Driscoll, Building Services Manager, Stanville Primary School

Project Details

This contract involved the replacement of unsafe and aging windows alongside the KS1 side of the school.

The windows were very badly rotted, leading to loosened glass panes and the general deterioration and disintegration of the rotted timberwork. The windows follow the route of the main pedestrian access to the foundation classes, as such, the condition of the windows had the potential to pose a significant health and safety risk to the children, parents, staff and visitors passing along this route.

The safety of the school users are of utmost priority and the swift replacement of the windows were essential. Acivico promptly designed the scheme and obtained building regulation approval. Utilising Acivico’s efficient BFRM framework, the most suitable contractor was quickly appointed from the rigorously vetted pool of resource.

The benefits of this process ensured a prompt commencement of contract upon appointment, due to our pre-vetting procedure. This ultimately reduced the contract mobilisation by half of the lead time in comparison to a standard tender procedure. The outcome offered both to the school the added value of quicker delivery and our client a value for money service.

We collaborated closely with the school’s Building Services Manager prior to the works commencing, to ensure the school users were not exposed to unnecessary safety risks due to the existing condition of the windows.

The images to the right demonstrates the condition of the windows both prior to and after the installation. Works consisted of the installation of polyester coated aluminium framed double glazed windows, complete with toughened outer panes and laminated inner panes.

Additional works included the replacement of the soffits and rainwater goods. The resulting installation was completed to the delight of our client, both within time and to budget and offered both a maintenance free and future proof solution for the school.
