Celebrating Construction 2018

It was a night full of celebrations and giving at this year's West Midlands Celebrating Construction awards which took place on Friday 13th April 2018

Over 500 industry leaders gathered at the ICC, Birmingham to host the 11th combined award ceremony, to celebrate and acknowledge the best in the region's innovative construction projects and talented individuals. And while they were at it, the generous guests raised just under £3,000 to give a welcome boost to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham's local health and wellbeing charities.

The ceremony which is jointly run by Acivico, the Built Environment Hub and the Chartered Institute of Building's (CIOB) West Midlands branch hit a landmark year by reaching the WM7 20th anniversary of the 'Built In Quality Awards' and the Built Environment Hub's 'Constructing Excellence Awards'. It was certainly a proud moment to reach this milestone which underlines the importance, popularity and success of the awards within the industry and paves the way to the next 20 years of celebrating quality, good practice and collaboration within our region.

Helping serve proceedings with a large slice of humour was regular awards host Mark Durden-Smith who returned to the show by popular demand and delighted the audience throughout the course of the prestigious evening.

Acivico's own chair of the Board Ian Briggs opened the Built in Quality awards with a speech in celebration of the considerable achievements of the sector over the year including the flagship National College for High Speed rail project managed by Acivico and delivered in collaboration with Willmott Dixon. This innovative landmark went on to win an award later in the evening for best educational building.

.... And a big 'thankyou' has been received by Acivico from Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Anne Underwood who has expressed her gratitude to guests for generously raising an impressive £2964.10 for her chosen local charities on the theme of health and well being; Dementia UK, Whizz Kidz and Cherished.
