Acivico joins official opening of Stirchley Baths

On Thursday 14th January Acivico colleagues joined in the celebrations at the official opening ceremony of the very popular Stirchley baths development which saw the Grade II Listed Edwardian swimming baths saved and restored as a new community hub.

Proceedings included building tours, performances by regular building users Birmingham Opera company and a presentation of a ceremonial door key made in the jewellery quarter to commemorate the occasion.  

Many of the original features of the swimming baths which was originally built in 1911 such as tiling, windows and the wooden reception area have been preserved and blended with a modern ceiling skylight and a range of modern community meeting spaces – the largest being positioned inside what was the actual swimming pool itself.  

Birmingham City Councillor Ian Ward led the speeches and thanked Acivico for its significant contribution to this high profile Birmingham project which included architecture, quantity surveying, project management, building regulations advice, construction design management services and clerk of works with various team members additionally supporting with the securing of Heritage lottery funding.
